Six months discipleship training program

lectures

Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a six months program: three months for lectures and three months of outreaches program. The school trains mostly young people from different countries. They are passionate about knowing God and want to discover God’ s purpose on their lives. Our first intake in Discipleship Training School started in 1997.

The school encourages and equips students to have a passion for God’s ministry.

The average class comprises 15 to 20 students for each intake and there is no age limit but the minimum is 18.

We have two intakes each year. One starts in February and another one in September.

Outreach

The outreach phase focuses on “Making Him Known.” Outreach gives you a taste of full-time missions by working alongside locals who are changing their communities through Christ’s love. During this phase you will practically apply everything you learned in the lecture phase. You will learn about sharing the love of God through evangelism and practical serving. YWAM Kigali usually focuses on East African nations. Outreach locations include, but are not limited to: Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and DR Congo.

testimonies from students

“Before coming to Rwanda and doing a DTS I didn’t know what the rest of the world was like. I only knew America and that was it.

I now have how a much better understanding of how God made the whole world unique and different.

Before DTS I did not know any culture besides my own, but now I have learned to be comfortable in Africa culture and learn that even if it is different than what I am used to it is a way of life and I can live it. It has also widened my view for the need of Jesus over all of the world”.

DTS - THE JOURNEY OF NO REGRET

It has been six months now since I made choice to travel all the way from Tanzania to Rwanda. I call these six months the months of my transformation. The beginning of DTS I acted just like I left home, but as time went by the transformation become even stronger in me. I can testify today that even though I might look the same in the outward appearance one thing I know for sure is that person God has made me to be over the six months is nothing compare to the early me.

Among the many things I have learnt during my DTS is I learnt to forgive and release, I learnt how to hear God’s voice, I learnt to be a strong woman of God, I learnt how to live with different people from different cultures, though am not perfect I learnt how to love.

I personally have seen and witnessed the love of God in my life. Right now I am committed to hearing and obeying God’s voice in my life. I am also committed to moving on forward to with the calling that the Lord has called me”.
